Thank goodness for February!

I don’t know about you but I greeted the arrival of February with a massive sigh of relief. For some reason, this year January has seemed to last an eternity. I was silently praying for it to end. Thank goodness for February! It’s arrival has given us a positive sign that spring is on the horizon.

Daffodils in a jug on a sunny day. Thank goodness for February!

January blues

It’s no secret that I adore autumn. I usually enjoy winter too but this year it has been a hard slog. The whole month has just felt bleak. I know I am not alone in this. Social media has been awash with memes and statuses lamenting that the month seemed to be lasting for an entire year. Nobody has had a good word to say about January! Mine and Peanut’s birthdays were a rare bright spot to lighten the overall funk we were in. What went wrong?

The best laid plans…

I started the year with lots of plans. I has 3 new blog series’ planned and was feeling pretty positive. What I hadn’t planned on was the flu. We are unfortunate to live in a flu hotspot. It has been knocking us down like skittles. Poor Junior has suffered terribly and was admitted to hospital with complications. I just wanted to take his pain away and in a way I did. He kindly passed it back to me. I am seriously considering painting a big red plague cross on the front door to warn unsuspecting passers by.

Thank goodness for February!

Your arrival has lifted our spirits! Signs of spring are finally here. My tiny daffodils are starting to bloom. All positive signs that sunnier days are just around the corner. I still have to battle this never ending virus but it seems so much easier now. There is lots to catch up on and a major spring clean is underway but it seems more achievable at the moment. I have no idea what kind of witchcraft made January such a hard month to bear but it if finally over.

Thank goodness for February!

After all the Christmas festivities January can be seen as a bit of a downer especially as it’s so cold. Maybe Christmas should cover all of winter?! #WotW

So many people have suffered, it has been an unusually bad year for viruses I think. Get well soon x

I have to be careful planting indoors because the cat eats everything! Roll on for outdoor planting!

I hope I’m not jinxing things but we have all managed to avoid this nasty flu. I’m sorry it found your family though, it does sound really awful, poor Junior ending up in hospital. I really hope that you are all feeling better very soon xx

Thank you Anne. I think we were unlucky to be in an area with such high rates. Over a third of his class were off school with it at one stage x

Sorry to hear you’ve all been suffering, hope you’re on the up now. I don’t like January so I was glad to see the back of it, too. Though February has started feeling just as cold – I want some warmth! Here’s to a better month x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

January is a tough month at the best of times. So sorry to hear about Junior ending up hospitalised with the flu, hope he is much better now. It’s a relief to be in February with signs of spring starting to appear and to know that winter will be over soon. Hope you are over your virus soon as well. #WotW

Thanks Louise, he is getting better every day. It was a shock to be so ill from it but the doctors and nurses were brilliant with him x

We have mine, my daughters and my aunts birthday in Jan but this year it didn’t help!

Hi Louisa, January has also been a never-ending month here too. We usually get a couple of weeks of cold clear weather in January (fondly referred to as the Halycon days), but not this year. Our health has been okay though, so that is something to be thankful for… I hope you all start to feel much better soon and that the brighter sunnier days help to lift your mood.

    xx

Hi Debbie! Isn’t it funny how people outside of the UK have had the same experience?

  11. 6th February 2018 / 1:41 PM

Yes, totally agree with January being tough. I’m going to come up with a plan for next year to make it easier. We had flu too. First time ever. Sounds like you had a really tough time with it. Glad Junior is recovering. So scary. #MMBC

We’ve never had the flu before either. We all spent several days unable to get out of bed. Junior is much better now thank you x

I’m threatening to take everyone for flu jabs next year. (Back again for #wotw)

You should do. Mr M gets them due to his job and he is the only one who hasn’t been ill

  12. 5th February 2018 / 8:14 PM

How awful to have had the flu! Hope you’re all feeling lots better now. Weirdly January wasn’t too bad for me – I actually think February might be more of a struggle. I keep being tricked into thinking it’s spring when it very definitely isn’t!

The snow yesterday certainly threw a seasonal curve ball. Just as things seemed to be picking up!

So terrible just how many families New Years have started so badly with flu and bugs. Cold weather too. Good to see lighter nights and a barely there but still there increase in temperature occasionally. Here is to a Fabulous February for you and yours. #MMBC

Thank you, you too! Here’s to brighter days

After New Year’s January seems like an endless month of snow, ice, slush and this year exceptionally strange weather. This awful flu is everywhere and knocking people down left and right. I’m very lucky to be stuck with an endless cough I picked up before Halloween and no flu. I’m especially lucky my elderly mother has escaped it so far. I hope you and yours recover from it soon.
I keep hearing about daffodils coming up, but if a flower showed up around here during our warmer weeks it was in for a very unpleasant surprise.

Thank you Jeanna. My Mom has luckily escaped the flu but because she is having chemo it means none of us have been able to visit and she missed mine and my daughters birthday. Hopefully we will be fit to catch up soon

January was a untypical cold month for me and I’m smiling and happy it’s February. #MMBC

I found January tough on finances and the dismal weather, now and again it feels like Spring is on it’s way when the sunshine shows an appearance X #mmbc

I think having 5 Mondays didn’t help either. It somehow made it feel longer!
